Fremont High Girls Basketball Dominates in Region Victory
In a stellar display of skill and teamwork, Fremont High’s girls basketball team secured an impressive 80-28 victory against West Field last Saturday, showcasing their prowess with a commanding 52-12 lead at halftime. This win propelled their record to 9-2 overall and maintained their perfect 2-0 record in Region 5.
Key Players Shine
Leading the charge for Fremont was Abby Christensen, who emerged as the game’s top scorer with 21 points, including three well-timed three-pointers. Christensen’s sharpshooting not only lifted her team but also set the tone for the entire match. Mia Smith followed closely behind, adding 18 points of her own, with two three-pointers that punctuated the offensive onslaught. Meanwhile, Maya Jensen contributed significantly with 11 points, helping to ensure the balance and effectiveness of Fremont’s attack.
On the opposing side, Kylee Mueller led West Field with eight points. Despite the team’s struggles, Mueller’s resilience stood out. Kennedee Solomon managed to add four points, while Meghan Peterson and Kendyl Kapp chipped in with three points each, demonstrating the challenges faced by West Field against a formidable Fremont squad.
Clearfield Triumphs Over Bonneville
In another Region 5 matchup, Clearfield defeated Bonneville with a 55-34 scoreline, establishing their dominance early on with a 17-6 lead by the end of the first quarter. Ciara De La O was the star of the night, netting 18 points complemented by her defensive efforts, which included four steals and four assists. Her performance underscored Clearfield’s strategy of aggressive defense paired with offensive execution.
Isabelle Wyaskett supported the team robustly with 11 points, while adding four steals and four assists. Brighton Bernards made his presence known on the boards, securing seven rebounds.
Conversely, Bonneville faced difficulties and did not report any stats for their players, although the team’s grit was evident despite the scoreline.
Northridge Rallies Against Roy
In Layton, Northridge took charge against Roy with a final score of 57-31. Establishing control early with a 9-5 lead and further extending it with a 12-4 scoring run in the second quarter, Northridge demonstrated significant improvements, especially with Maureen Pulu leading the scoring with 14 points, including three three-pointers.

Bear River Crushed Ben Lomond
In perhaps the most lopsided game of the night, Bear River dismantled Ben Lomond with a staggering 78-9 score. The second half saw Ben Lomond managing only one point—a testament to Bear River’s suffocating defense. Maylee Higley led Bear River with 18 points, hitting four three-pointers while also contributing significantly on defense with six steals.
Despite Ben Lomond’s struggle, Hadley Chadwick managed to score four points and added five steals, showing resilience amidst a challenging night.
Ogden Defeats South Summit
Ogden faced South Summit, establishing a commanding 29-14 lead at halftime before securing a 40-28 win. Salote Tonga notably led Ogden with 13 points, ensuring consistent scoring throughout the game.
Boys Basketball Highlights
Switching focus to boys basketball, Morgan cruised to a dominant 79-53 victory over Bear River, fueled by Bracken Saunders, who led all scorers with 25 points. Morgan’s early 8-0 lead laid the foundation for their commanding performance.
Clearfield also found success against Bonneville, securing a 66-44 win without reporting individual stats, while Ogden narrowly bested Cedar with a 57-55 score, showcasing both teams’ competitive spirit.
In yet another thrilling matchup, Wasatch edged out Weber 68-60, fueled by Thomas Packer, who delivered an impressive 24 points fueled by six three-pointers.
